Adoption Fees & What They Cover
At Freedom Frenchie Rescue, our adoption donation fees are not simply a “price tag” for a dog—they are a contribution toward saving lives. Every dollar helps us continue our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, many of whom come to us with urgent medical needs.
Where does your money go?
Even in the rare case of a healthy intake with no major medical issues, the basic cost of vetting a dog averages between $500–$650. For dogs with medical needs, costs can quickly rise into the thousands. Your adoption donation helps cover:
- Veterinary Care – spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, exams, diagnostics, medications, surgeries, and ongoing treatment for medical conditions.
- Medical Supplies & Preventatives – flea/tick and heartworm prevention, wound care, supplements, and prescription food.
- Transport & Intake – the cost of safely pulling dogs from shelters, breeder releases, or urgent situations and transporting them into our care.
- Daily Care – food, crates, collars, leashes, cleaning supplies, and comfort items while in foster homes.
- Volunteer Support – while our team is 100% volunteer-based, the time and effort put into rehabilitating each dog is truly priceless.
Why Bulldogs Cost More to Rescue
Bulldogs are a special breed with unique needs. Because of their genetic predispositions and the often poor conditions they come from, finding a completely “basic” bulldog with no medical concerns is extremely rare. From airway issues to skin conditions, orthopedic challenges to ear infections, their care requires both medical investment and experienced foster support. The best way to put it “they are in rescue for a reason”.

Your adoption fee is not a purchase price for a dog—it is a donation that fuels our ability to save the next one in need. If adoption fees are a concern, it may be a sign that we are not the right rescue for you. Our adopters understand that their contribution extends beyond the dog they take home—it directly supports the continued mission of rescuing and rehabilitating bulldogs who otherwise may never get a second chance. Adoption Process: What To Expect
Step 1: view available adoptables
AVAILABLE ADOPTABLES
Only rescues listed under the Adopt tab on our website are available for adoption. If you have seen a dog on our social media platforms, but they are not appearing yet on our website this means they are currently on medical hold and/or with a foster family getting ready for their adoptable moment.
Each rescues profile contains all the information we currently have about them. We strive to be as transparent as possible. and give you as much information to find the best fit for you and your family. This also assists with success of the dog!
Please do not send messages, emails, or DMs about not listed or listed under the Adopt tab, as we are unable to respond to inquiries about unavailable rescues.
Step 2: Submit An Application
STEP 2: SUBMIT AN APPLICATION
APPLICATION DETAILS
An application must be completed before any further steps, such as answering questions, arranging meet and greets, or providing additional information. Our adoptable application is available on our website under ADOPT. We work on a first come first serve basis when receiving applications. However, we also find the best fit for not only the adopters but the dogs for success.
Be sure to fill out the application for the specific rescue you are interested in. There is a $10.00 application fee that is donated towards our rescues vetting and supplies.
Step 3: Application Review & Interview
PROCESSING OF APPLICATION
Once your application is submitted, our adoptive coordinator will contact you for an interview if your application meets our requirements. This interview allows us to ensure the rescue is a good match for your home, lifestyle, and the dog that you applied for is a good fit. If you are out of state, we will be conducting a virtual interview upon your initial call.
Step 4: Meet & Greet
If your initial interview call is approved by our coordinator, we will schedule a meet and greet with the rescue. If you are out of state, we will set up a virtual meet and greet with the foster that is responsible for the current dogs care.
Since we are foster based, our rescues are cared for in individual foster homes rather than a central location. The meet and greet location will be arranged according to what fits the fosters schedule.
Step 5: 24 Hour Decision Period
After the meet and greet, we ask potential adopters to take up to 24 hours to consider their decision, as adopting a rescue is a significant commitment.
Please note that there may be another meet and greet happening during this 24-hour period.
Step 6: Adoption Finalization Period
Once the 24-hour period is over, we will contact you to confirm your decision.
If you choose to proceed, the adoption contract will be signed, and all medical records will be emailed to you upon receipt of payment. At this time, the foster family will be notified that the process and paperwork has been completed and approval for scheduling a pick up time/location.
The adoption donation fee must be paid immediately upon finalizing the adoption and before arranging pick up of the rescue.
Step 7: What to expect when adopting
All learning and guidance must continue in their new home. A dog’s behavior can change with a new environment and energy, and every family’s dynamic is different. What works or is allowed in one foster home may not be the same in yours, so consistency, patience, and continued training are key to their success. Have zero expectations.

Please keep in mind: adopting a new dog, meet & greets and the process is emotional. We are here as a rescue for the dogs. Providing them a second chance at life, love, and success. Our rescues are placed in the most consistent, loving, and patient homes. They have been through unimaginable experiences, and we are here for them.

1. Choose your future furry companion from our Available Dogs page.
2. Complete the adoption application and mention your military status.
3. Provide proof of service (e.g., military ID, VA card, DD-214, or other verification).
4. Receive 5% off your adoption fee as our way of saying thank you for your service! (We must have proof before signing adoption contract to adjust the adoption donation fee, before sending)
